This heat may be part of my decision, but I think I should decline the invitation to your class reunion. I just don't care to wander far and overnight from my home base. The occasion sounds like great fun, and I would like to see and gab with many of your classmates, and I wish you all a wonderful and memorable weekend. Tell all who may inquire that I send hugs and a smile and hope they are doing well in life.
I have lived in Bloomington for 13 years this summer. One daughter and family live here. My other daughter and clan live in Ohio, and my oldest granddaughter (daughter of our Laura who died very young) lives in Flagstaff, Arizona. I have eight grandchildren, and consider my self very blessed at this stage of life.
Travel is down to a minimum now, but I have ventured many places in this world. I still volunteer at the David Davis Mansion here in Bloomington---it's a State site connected to the Lincoln Trail in Illinois; and I visit cardiac patients through Mended Hearts at the local hospital. Of course, I still read a lot (Cutting for Stone" is my latest recommendation) and try to keep in touch with relatives, old friends, and more recent friends down here. And I always leave time for the Shakespeare and the symphony and other fine arts.
It was a treat to hear from you and how you are. Do tell George Davis "hi" ; and congratulations to Doug Ulreich--what an interesting and rewarding career he has had. I remember going to programs when the very young Dawn Upshaw was one of his singers!
